Low turnout at FTU elections

The Fiji Teachers Union had their national election on Saturday which was conducted by the Fijian Elections Office.

The FEO hopes that members of the FTU in future elections will take advantage of this opportunity as the turnout in the election was low.

A total of 500 members out of 5,156 registered members cast their vote in this election.

The FEO confirms that Nakul Barman Deo and Pranesh Praveen Sharma have been elected as Vice Presidents of the FTU while Pratosh Kumar, Brij Bhan Singh and Madhur Prakash have been elected as the new Executive Committee Members of the FTU.

The positions of President, Female Vice President, Assistant General Secretary, General Treasurer, Personnel Officer, and Publicity Officer were uncontested.

Meanwhile, Muniappa Goundar has been appointed as the President for a term of one year.
