As we mark the morning of the resurrection of Christ, the underlining message of love and peace is once again reiterated by churches.

Speaking to the congregation last night, Catholic Church Archbishop, Peter Loy Chong says Easter began with the experience of peace.

Archbishop Loy Chong says while Easter is a Christian tradition, the Church calls on everyone to become agents of peace.

The head of the Catholic Church says there is no peace when there is war and violence, when people cannot exercise their freedom, and when human rights are violated.

The Church says other religions also hold peace at the highest importance.

Archbishop Loy Chong adds Easter is not about hot crossed buns, Easter bunny or a holiday but it is about the peace of Christ.

President of the Methodist Church Reverend Dr. Epeneri Vakadewavosa is also reminding all Fijians to reflect on Love.

Vakadewavosa says Easter reminds not only Christians but all of humanity about God’s inclusive and unconditional love.

The Reverend adds Christians must stand strong in their faith when faced with global issues of drugs, violation of human rights, rape, child molestation, domestic violence and negative impacts of the internet.

The Reverend is calling on all Christians to take ownership of their faith and practice love and respect, tolerance and understanding.

Today marks the ultimate miracle where Jesus rose from the dead after being crucified on the cross in Calvary by the Romans.
