The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is urging all Fijians to look after the environment by using less or reusable plastic bags.
Sayed-Khaiyum says this practice is vital as it helps in reducing the number of carbon footprints which contributes to climate change.
“Please use less plastic bags, please look after the environment, and please ensure that we have some ladies over here that saw bags for us, use those bags as their reusable bags and in that way we’re not only reducing carbon footprints but keeping Fiji clean. Many visitors or tourist come to Fiji because they see Fiji as a pristine environment and we must keep it that way.”
He says with the current unrolling erratic weather patterns around the country, Fijians should fully support Fiji’s COP23 presidency to Germany by taking part in more environmentally friendly initiatives.
