Lolohea pleads guilty to murdering his defacto partner

High Court Judge, Justice Salesi Temo has concurred with the assessors and found fifty-six-year-old Timoci Lolohea guilty of murdering his de-facto partner.

Lolohea murdered Elenoa Dicovi on 20th of March, last year at Nasilivata Road in Nadera, Nasinu with two knives.

Dicovi was stabbed twelve times.

While delivering his verdict, Justice Salesi Temo said provocation doesn’t apply and the violence used on the deceased was out of proportion.

In his sentencing submission, Defence Counsel, Lisiate Qetaki asked the Court to consider that Lolohea is 56-years-old, married and has a young daughter, and also take into account the time he had spent in remand.

Qetaki also asked the Judge to consider the time he went for overseas missions while in the military which shows his service for the country and that he cooperated with police during his caution interview and was always upfront.

Meanwhile, Prosecution lawyer, Siteri Navia said they sought a mandatory life imprisonment with a minimum term of 30 years’ to reflect the severity of the case.

Justice Temo said he will not go their way as they did not have the authority to back it up.

Lolohea will be sentenced tomorrow.
