Local construction companies need to lift their game in order to attract more foreign investments and remain competitive in the market.

Speaking at the Construction Industry Council conference in Suva, Economy Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum urged company leaders to raise their work standards.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the standard and quality of building standards in the country needs to improve.

“Building standards again is something that we need to ensure and you know I’ve had so many people says to me a number of times that the finishing in Fiji is not very good. Whenever we bring someone from overseas the finishing is really good.”

The AG says Fijians also need to be recognized for their skills.
