Police were immediately alerted and the man was taken in for questioning.

Permanent Secretary, Pene Baleinabuli says they will not take littering lightly and the Ministry of Environment is likely to prosecute the litter-offender under the Environmental Management Act.

Baleinabuli says the Ministry will have discussions with the Environment ministry to train and empower more forestry officials to double up as litter prevention officials.

He says the public needs to develop civic pride and take greater responsibility for the environment.
