A 40 year old man is currently admitted at the Labasa Hospital while four others escaped death after a lightning strike in Vunivau Labasa yesterday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says the man is admitted at the Intensive Care Unit and is in a critical condition while the others are still recovering from shock.

The five were playing and had taken shelter under the pine tree when the incident happened.

Naisoro is urging the public to stay indoors during this bad weather and refrain from using mobile phones during lightning and thunderstorm.

The lightening strike yesterday caused power blackout in the Labasa Town area.
