Lifeline Fiji assisted over 10, 000 Fijians in 2016 and 2017

Lifeline Fiji received about 12, 000 calls and assisted over 10, 000 Fijians through their psychological and emotional well-being programs in 2016 and 2017.

Officer in charge, Jeremaia Merekula says unfortunately 14 people took their lives this year while eight people died last year.

Merekula says they received various issues via phone calls.

“Some called in for suicidal ideas, some called in for relationship problems, some called in for financial constraints. Some even called in because they were struggling with their studies and kids. So the calls that come in it varies.

Meanwhile, former New Zealand 7s Captain, DJ Forbes was the Chief Guest at the inaugural Lifeline Fiji’s Gala event last night.

The Gala was attended by hundreds of Fijians to show their support for the work being done by Lifeline Fiji.
