A 34-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 18 years after he was convicted of one count of murder by the Suva High Court.

Yang Xian Jiong committed the offense in April 2012.

The Court heard that Jiong and two others went to Victoria Parade in Suva and waited for Robert Fong to come out of the Traps Bar.

When Fong neared his vehicle, they jumped on him and repeatedly stabbed, resulting in his death.

Judge Justice Salesi Temo while sentencing Jiong said it is clear there was pre-planning in this murder.
