Lies spread about I-Taukei land: Vuniwaqa

Lands and Mineral Resources, Mereseini Vuniwaqa is concerned about what she calls are lies being spread the safety of land under the Land Bank.
In her maiden speech in Parliament this morning, Vuniwaqa says she is shocked about the misinformation given to Fijians.

‘’The misinformation that is still being spread about the security and protection of the ITaukei land. During the campaign, I was shocked to discover the extent and magnitude of the outright lies told to the Fijian people and I’m even shocked that to hear this lies on the floor of this house’’.

Vuniwaqa adds there is no place for deception in Parliament about the security of land is the Lands acts.

‘’The people have rejected these lies; they have no place in the new Fiji and in this House. One line in particular which relates to my portfolio is that which claims an alleged plan to alienate iTaukei land through the land bank. I only need to reiterate section 28 of the Constitution, which mandates the ownership of all iTaukei, the urban and Rotuma land remaining with its customary owners and shall not be permanently alienated except to the state for public purpose’’.

Vuniwaqa says landowners land are secure and protected like never before.
