Four contestants are vying for the “Miss Levuka title” at the Vodafone Back to Levuka carnival.

The carnival which began last Saturday has attracted a lot of people to the old capital city and the carnival committee is hoping it will be a successful event.

Chairperson – Anne Murgan says they’re getting positive responses from the public because the festival is being held after a lapse of fifteen years.

’’Our expectation is first, to bring together all those people who are far away so that they can get back and meet their friends and families. Secondly, we want to get the youth or young people to do something which they enjoy doing.”

Contestants are advocating about issues such as climate change, poverty alleviation and suicide
