Lessons on healthy living to be added to school curriculum

Healthy living should be taught from an early age and it is vital to include it in the school curriculum.

Diabetes Fiji chair Taabish Akbar says students need to understand the benefits of healthy living in order to support the fight against non-communicable diseases.

Akbar says they are looking at new approaches to address the issues relating with diabetes.

“If we expect a different result using same approach that will be rather foolish and a new approach is required and the problem is so huge that no one in isolation can address it effectively.”

Akbar says educating students will result in a healthier society.

Diabetes Fiji has discovered people between the ages of twenty and thirty are dieing due to diabetes related complications.
