Legal Aid to open five more offices

The Legal Aid Commission will open five more offices in the coming months to realize government’s commitment of easing access to justice.

Director, Shaheen Ali, says it is critical that legal services be taken to areas outside the urban centers as they have done in Nabouwalu, Taveuni and Levuka.

The new offices will open in Rotuma, Seaqaqa, Vunidawa, Keiyasi and Kadavu.

The Commission provides assistance on family law, maintenance, custody, domestic violence and legal representations for offenders who cannot afford a lawyer.

Since 2012 the Commission has opened offices in Nadi, Rakiraki, Sigatoka, Nausori, Nasinu, Navua, Savusavu, Tavua, Korovou, Levuka and Taveuni.
