The Fiji Sugar Corporation is wasting no time in getting the Lautoka sugar mill ready for the next crushing season.

Chief Operating Officer Navin Chandra says the Lautoka sugar mill will now go under maintenance as it has ended the 2017 crushing season.

The next crushing season is expected to start from June next year.

Chandra says the sugar mill’s performance during this year’s crushing season was good compared to previous years.

He says the mill engineers were quick enough to roll the sugar mill after fixing the problems and at times they had to transfer cane from Lautoka to Rarawai mill in Ba.
