Fijians living in elevated residential areas of Lautoka are expected to face water supply disruption from next Thursday.
The Water Authority says this is due to repair works that will be carried out in a major leakage on the high-pressure water pipeline from the Vaturu Dam to the Nagado Water Treatment Plant.
WAF General Manager Customer Services and Acting General Manager Operations, Sekove Uluinayau says the leakage is associated with the aging infrastructure – major challenge for the authority.
Uluinayau says the WAF will ensure there will be minimal interruption to the major services including hospitals, schools and hotels during the partial shutdown period.
He adds 19 water carting trucks will be deployed to cart water and two 4×4 twin cabs carting 1000 litre water tanks to service inaccessible areas and smaller roads.
