There is a need for more police officers to be present and patrolling the streets as well as attending to calls made by the community.

A lot of people raised this concern at the Fiji Police Force talanoa session that was held at the Civic Centre this afternoon.

Police chief of operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu says manpower is an issue for the Police Force.

“The increase in the number of population compared to the ratio of Police officers around the country. This is not an excuse but we are trying our best to maximise all the Police officers that are there at the various stations.”

Amongst other issues that were raised the opening hours for night clubs, the selling of alcohol to minors and even corruption within the Police Force.

The Police Commissioner major general Ben Groenewald says any officers engaging in corrupt practices will be dealt with.
