Large turnout at Bhawani Dayal School polling station

Registered voters turned up in numbers to cast their votes at the Bhawani Dayal School polling station in Nakasi this morning.

FBC News spoke to a family of three generations, the Kumar family who were very pleased with the electoral process carried out by the Fijian Elections Office officials.

54-year-old, Jayant Kumar says his been voting for many years and today was a seamless election process for him.

His mother, 77-year-old, Lilla Wati says voting today was an opportunity she wasn’t going to let go despite the wet weather conditions.

Granddaughter, 23-year-old, Michelle Kumar who voted for the second time was very excited to have her voice heard through placing a tick on the ballot paper today.

Meanwhile, 68-year-old, Nanise Lomaloma Kobau shared her experience with FBC News, saying that she is suffering from a knee injury, however, this didn’t stop her from exercising her constitutional right.

Kobau was also pleased with the assistance provided by the FEO officials.

At the Bhawani Dayal School, 2,709 votes were cast in the 2014 General Election in 7 polling stations.

This year the FEO has increased the polling stations to 8 with more than a thousand people expected to cast their votes.
