Landowners urged to invest in tourism

April 23, 2012 7:00 pm

Landowners have been urged to invest in tourism businesses says i Taukei Land Trust Board General Manager Alipate Qetaki.

Qetaki says one of the major concerns now is the lack of interest from landowners in investing in tourism businesses which are the major source of income for the country.

The i Taukei Land Trust Board will be visiting the province of Ba conducting workshops with landowners.

The workshop was scheduled for last month but was cancelled because of the floods.

Qetaki says even though landowners do get employment and money from leases and shares they are not capitalising on their resources to get maximum benefits.

He says the Trust wants to see more landowners owning tourism businesses in Fiji in the coming few years, sharing wealth.
