The Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs is urging the landowners to consult with them before agreeing on any development plan.

Permanent Secretary, Naipote Katonitabua, says they have established departments within the ministry to help landowners discuss possible developments that can be undertaken.

“Consultation first with I-Taukei Trust Board and then finalize the dealings and there are also consultancy firms out there but they can also come to the Ministry”

Katonitabua says it is vital for the landowners to seek advice and not make rushed decisions as it will have impacts in the future.

Meanwhile, Katonitabua says all i-Taukei lands are well protected under the 2013 Constitution.
