The Housing Authority is enforcing the new policy directive from government in which all subdivisions will now have lots available for low income earners.

Housing Authority Board Director – Roveen Permal says they’ve already started with development across their lots in Nasinu.

“72 subdivided lots in Nepani and the ones between 280 square metres to 400 square metres will be between 15 to 25 thousand dollars after subsidies and that’s only for the Nepani one, there’s more coming in Davuilevu, there’s 756 lots in Davuilevu, so similar will be happening there for the ones that are smaller in area.”

Meanwhile Minister for Housing – Parveen Kumar says those Fijians living in Public Rental Board flats and houses will be given the first opportunity to migrate from rental properties to owning their own home.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama also highlighted earlier this week the introduction of the first land grant which entitles those families with an annual income of less than 50 thousand dollars to a 10 thousand dollar grant to own or lease land to eventually build their own home on.
