Land issues top the list

Land issues and indigenous rights are the topical issues at public consultations organised by the National Review and Defence Committee.
Committee Chairman Esala Teleni says the submissions are made by Fijians depending on the areas that they live in.
‘When you come to urban areas or towns their concerns was more to social problems like law and order, unemployment and poverty so it is interesting to note that but it is their genuine concern so we have taken that on board and those are some of the issues that we would like to add when we give out the security strategy of our nation’’.
The committee believes that the lack of information is the reason for most of these issues coming to the forefront of public consultations.
Teleni says all Permanent Secretaries will be attended a workshop at the end of the month to discuss the submissions before a draft paper is prepared for Cabinet.
