Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has stated that land is no longer a political tool in Fiji.
Bainimarama says land should be a source of prosperity and government will continue to assist more iTaukei landowners to become financially powerful by developing their land.
Bainimarama says ninety one percent of land in Fiji is owned by the iTaukei’s and no one will take it away from them.
“We’ve taken down the old systems of control and privilege that kept resources in the hands of the few and left the vast majority of i-taukei people cash poor, even though they held such valuable assets.”
This financial year government has given another 10 million dollars to fund i-taukei land development.
