HOPE party Leader Tupou Draunidalo has revealed that housing and land tenure will be a part of their manifesto which is expected to be released soon.
Draunidalo says they want to engage land owning units as they own ninety percent of the land in the country.
She says they want to involve land owners in and around Suva as well to see if government can lease their lands on good rates.
She adds the land bank is not a good idea as it blocks all legal actions.
”It’s taking away from the trust system and putting it in the land bank and in the land bank land owning units cannot question the decisions made about their land once it’s there for 99 years. That’s why we say it’s preferable to leave it under the trust system because whatever the board does it can be questioned in court."
The party leader claims that if they form government they will propose to lease all native lands on commercial rates.
