Lami/Delainavesi water carting to continue

September 21, 2014 5:04 am

Residents in the upper levels of Lami and Delainavesi will continue to receive water supplied by trucks.

The Water Authority of Fiji says tap water will not be available for some time.

The authority says during their efforts to increase water pressure that has restricted implementing the alternative programme of providing tap water one day and carting water the next, engineers have discovered the diminishing intake levels at WAF water sources is worse than they thought.

This means a real possibility exists that the upper levels of Lami/Delainavesi will not receive tap water for the foreseeable future although water carting will continue.

WAF chief executive, Opetaia Ravai says they will continue to work around the clock to increase the pressure but the drought has not lightened and there has not been substantial rain since May.

Ravai says he will be issuing a media release tomorrow that will better define that overall situation facing Suva.
