Lami Town Council goes through objections

The Lami Town Council is now going through letters of objection with regards to the proposed Waibola development in Wailekutu Lami.

Residents are opposing plans to convert the mangrove area from Residential to Commercial C – Heavy Industries and Car Park.

Lami Special Administrator Jasper Singh says this is a delicate matter and they need to go through all the responses before making their recommendations.

These will be forwarded to the Director of Town and Country Planning by next week.

Construction company, Pacific Building Solutions last year applied develop the site into a heavy industrial area.

However, there’s been a huge backlash by residents complaining the proposed plan will destroy a natural habitat.

PBS Managing Director Michael Fairfax says a response will be issued tomorrow.
