The Lagilagi Housing Project at Jittu Estate in Raiwaqa, Suva, has been delayed due to lack of funds to continue construction of new units.

Peoples Community Network Director Semiti Qalowasa told FBC News they currently need $1.2 million to complete the whole project.

Concerns have been raised about the delay of the Lagilagi Housing Project and this has forced Qalowasa to reveal the reason behind the delay.

“We need about 1.2 million to complete the project if the 1.2 million is given then another 36 families to go into phase two so that is 76 altogether”

Qalowasa hopes the government will provide the funds to complete the project.

He adds they have also faced difficulties in receiving rent payments from tenants adding they cannot rely on payments alone for their source of funds.

The PCN will need to build 76 more units to complete the project.
