Strong wind and rain is being felt in Savusavu as TC Winston approaches.

Authorities confirm Savusavu town and Labasa will close at 2pm in preparation for the arrival of the system which is expected to reach Vanua Levu an hour later.

All public transportation has been put on hold and should cease by midday.

TC Winston is forecast to bring very destructive hurricane force winds with average speeds of 220km/ph to all of Vanua Levu.

Meanwhile, Nausori Town Council, acting chief executive, Azam Khan says the Nausori Market will close at 12pm.

He adds the town is operating as normal and they are closely monitoring the weather and a decision will be made when it arises.
