January 22, 2018 7:20 pm

Communities in the Kubulau District in Bua will no longer need to travel far to access government services.

The new Kubulau Government Station was officially opened by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

Bainimarama says this will directly benefit over 34 villages and settlements throughout the Kubulau, Wainunu, and Wailevu Districts, granting 5,000 Fijians direct access to Government services.

“Previously, these communities would need to travel either to Nabouwalu, Savusavu, or Labasa to access government services, spending a night in these centres before travelling back to their homes the next day. When my Government heard of these concerns, we sought out the necessary funding to build this new Station, and it brings me great pride to officially open it here today.”

There are plans to relocate the Namalata Nursing Station to the Government station and later on, construct a new Police Station and other ministry hubs.

Bainimarama says the government is committed to extending access to essential government services, to make life in the Northern division easy and convenient.
