Kidney transplants to be carried out in Fiji soon

In the next two years successful kidney transplants will be done in Fiji at Apollo Hospital Hub in Suva.

This was highlighted by the General Surgeon from New Delhi Apollo Hospital Dr Vijaya Kumari at the launch of Apollo Hospitals Hub in Fiji.

She says kidney transplants should be done as most renal failure cases are of children.

“30 to 40 percent of renal failure patients are in the youngsters and these are in the productive age group and they deserve a second chance to live.
Meanwhile, Apollo Hospital – India’s leading super specialty hospital will open a hub at Pender Street in Suva.”

The hospital hopes to provide services such as 48 hour response time, free medical advice from specialists in India, free assistance for Visa and travel and free post discharge follow ups for Fijians.
