New Zealand Prime Minister John Key says it’s time for Fiji and New Zealand to forget about the past and move forward.

Key met with Fijian Foreign Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola during the Pacific Islands Forum in Papua New Guinea last week.

He told NZ based Radio Tarana that he had a good chat with Ratu Inoke and talks are underway for an official trip to Fiji.

_“Yeah we had a very good relationship with Fiji and you know our issue hasn’t been with Frank Bainimarama per say its historically being with the fact that there wasn’t democracy – now his addressed that – so we have kind of moved on if you like – so I think they are doing pretty well – I mean I don’t measure it every day – but we want them to do well because it is a big economy in the region with a lot of New Zealand investment and a lot of New Zealanders go there.” _

Key says other ministers at the PIF preferred that Bainimarama also attend the Forum Leaders Summit.
