A group of the descendants of the Girmitiyas who have been adopted as people of the District of Noco in the Rewa province, were part of the celebrations in Nadi yesterday.

Spokesperson Pita Tagicakiverata says this is a time of bonding with the new family members.

The Paramount Chief of Rewa, Ro Teimumu Kepa was the chief guest today and she thanked the indentured labourers who were rescued by the people of Noco – they have become one with their rescuers.

Meanwhile two schools from Noco took part in the entertainment activities.
