Ensuring Fiji is free from the illegal trade of guns and other weapons is the focus a three day workshop being held in Suva.

Permanent Secretary for Defence – Osea Cawaru says these talks are imperative to strengthening existing national legislation.

“Because it regulates the trade of arms by protecting legitimate arms trade and ensure that the process is not circumvented, it will also improve national regulations on arms transfers with the view to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation amongst UN member states.”
