Keep a close watch on your children: Police

November 12, 2019 7:30 am

Given the current weather situation, police are urging parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children.

Police officers continue to warn and clear children swimming in creeks and flooded drains and have warned parents of the consequences of leaving children unsupervised.

This comes after a 16-year-old boy died yesterday, believed to have drowned after he was swept away into a flooded drain while trying to retrieve a rugby ball.

Police confirmed that their team and National Fire Authority officers located the boy’s body in the late afternoon.

The Year 10 student was reportedly playing rugby at the Nadera Ground opposite Duvula Road when the incident occurred.
