The Suva High Court has denied an application by Jagath Karunaratne to have his bail conditions varied.

The variation to the bail conditions was sought to enable Karunaratne to travel to Sri Lanka to attend a religious ceremony.

Karunaratne is currently facing charges of sedition.

A charge of sedition carries a maximum term of 7 years imprisonment.

The substantive case will next be called for mention in the Magistrates’ Court on 26 July 2012.
