Opposition Whip and SODELPA MP Semesa Karavaki is calling on the government to provide clarity on laws surrounding the re-appointment of Major General Retired Jioji Konrote as the President.

Karavaki says there are diverse views on the appointment made yesterday and the government should come out clean and prove everything to the public.

With SODELPA MP’s claiming the appointment as illegal, Karavaki says more discussions should be done prior to the appointment.

“And if they don’t agree and if we don’t agree with them then there is the right pathway to follow, refer it to the other independent institution which is the judiciary to clarify it or to interpret it”

Karavaki says they are not happy with the appointment and the process followed should be clarified.
