Kalabu landowners raise land issues

Landowners have the right to have a say regarding issues or developments on their land says i-Taukei Land Trust Board General Manager Alipate Qetaki.

He highlighted this after landowner’s from Kalabu raised their concerns that residents living on their land are also running businesses without a lease and without their consent.

Qetaki told them, the TLTB will not take action against these people because they had traditionally asked for the land and they were given approval.

He told the landowners they have the right to approach them because it is still under native lease.

Qetaki reminded them that most of the residents that live on their land have also contributed to village occasions and levy.

Qetaki was speaking during the I Taukei Institutions public consultation at Kalabu village in Naisnu last night.
