Judgment day for Cokanauto

Alleged rapist Pastor Jone Cokanauto who is facing various counts of sexual offenses will know his fate this morning when Suva High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo will deliver his judgment.

Jezreel Lion of Judah Church leader is charged with five counts of rape, one count of attempted rape and four counts of indecent assault.

He is alleged to have raped four women in his church congregation from 2002 to 2015.

Following a two week long trial, three assessors came back with a mixed opinion on Friday.

The first assessor found Cokanauto guilty of five counts of rape, and two counts of indecent assault however did not find him guilty on two counts of indecent assault and one count of attempted rape.

The second assessor found the Pastor guilty on all charges while the third assessor did not find him guilty on any of the charges.

The alleged offenses took place over a period of thirteen years.

Justice Temo will deliver his judgement at 11:30am.
