Judge to sum up case

Suva High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo will tomorrow sum up the case in relation to a mother who allegedly raped her 14 year-old daughter in July last year.

The mother gave evidence in High court today and denied the allegation.

While closing the case, Defence said that the woman who is a single mother raised her four children on her own.

The defence also said that the family was living in a hart and the woman being a mother dreamt of her daughter living in her own house one day.

In court today the defence also said that the victim had started to hang out with the wrong group and the accused wanted her daughter to complete her studies which is why she used to constantly lecture her.

The Defence said that no parent would discipline their child by sexually abusing them.

The woman is charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault and it’s alleged that she raped and sexually assaulted her daughter between January and July last year.
