A 26-year-old security officer from Kadavu charged with one count of cultivating illicit drugs had his sentencing shifted to a later date as Judge Justice Salesi Temo told the accused to go and enjoy his Christmas break.
Josefa Vakatawakoro who is on bail, was arrested on 14th December 2015 following a drug raid in his village in Kadavu.
The court heard that Vakatawakoro is a first offender and had cooperated during the course of investigations.
The accused had sought forgiveness from the Police during his arrest, saying it was the first time for him to cultivate cannabis.
In court yesterday, Justice Temo asked Vakatawakoro why he committed such a crime to which the accused said he was subjected to peer pressure.
Vakatawakoro will now be sentenced on January 21st.
