Jone Vakarisi further remanded

Jone Vakarisi who was recently charged for allegedly attacking police officers at Mead Road in Nabua with seven other people was produced before the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Police prosecution told the court that accused Vakarisi and Tevita Bulanaivalu refused for their cell to be searched on two separate occasions.

The court also heard that these search requests were directive from the commissioner and that the two were against the rules and regulations of the Fiji Corrections Services.

Vakarisi also told the court that there were eleven people in one cell and that search was carried out without any reason.

Magistrate Liyange Wikaramasekara told the accused persons that the remand center was run by officials and they needed to abide by the rules.

Accused Bulanaivalu also told the court that he needed to go to the hospital for a scan.

The court told the authorities to take him to the CWM Hospital.

Jone Vakarisi Junior, Tevita Bulanaivalu, Ledua Gudru, Sekove Serukalou, Jese Sorovi, Toni Sokoiwasa, Chanel Antonio and Mark Ross have been charged with going equipped for theft, criminal intimidation, damaging property and resisting arrest.

The matter will be recalled on October 20th.
