Bainimarama says Fiji has experienced great loss and exhilaration at the same time as this year Tropical Cyclone Winston devastated many parts of the country and the joy and pride that was felt in the triumph of our Rugby Sevens team at the Olympics.

He says this Christmas, we need to renew the spirit of hope, courage and compassion that brought us to where we stand today.

Bainimarama also acknowledged the civilian volunteers, police and UN peacekeepers for their services and sacrifice.
