JICA-USP host SDG14 symposium

The Japan International Cooperation Agency and USP’’s School of Marine Studies will be holding a symposium on SDG14, Community Based Resource Management today.

The symposium will focus on Sustainable Development Goal14 to conserve and sustainable use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

This is also aimed at enhancing partnership and networking in the cooperation of marine science and fisheries among the governments, development partners, USP, Japanese universities and JICA.

Discussions will center on human resources development.

In line with the 8th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting which was hosted by the Japanese Government last May, JICA is focusing more on Ocean and Fisheries related cooperation in the Pacific.

In this symposium, JICA and FAO will present on their future projects targeted in Fiji and the other Pacific Island Countries.
