Opposition MP Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu says the 2019/2020 National budget is a deceptive and desperate budget.
Responding to the national budget in Parliament yesterday, Ratu Naiqama says this is a doom budget.
Opposition MP while rejecting the budget claims productive investment in the resource based sector continues to decline.
“It is a doom budget rather than a boom budget as claimed by the Minister for Economy. There is no confidence by the private sector and investors to invest in the economy.”
Meanwhile, the Minister for Lands and Mineral Ashneel Sudhakar says with the growth forecast of 2.7 percent in the 2019/2020 budget, his ministry is looking at strengthening policies.
“Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources is looking into strengthening policies that address the resilience progress in the changing climate and environment for both local and global markets. ANZ is especially pleased with our government strategy to return to potential surplus over a number of years. This is good news for every sector, economy and for all.”
Sudhakar says this is a budget with a vision to protect the well-being of future generations.
He adds the budget will continuously drive the climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives for sustainable development.
