A handbook on the conservation of our natural resources was launched by the I-taukei Affairs Boards.
Permanent Secretary of Itaukei Affairs Savenaca Kaunisela says the handbook will serve as a manual when dealing with different conservation issues.
The Itaukei Affairs Conservation Handbook is a guideline to addressing increasing concerns on the loss of our natural resources.
Kaunisela says the handbook attests the Ministry’s commitment to conserve the environment.
“The conservation Unit of Taukei Affairs Board identified the need for creation of a conservation handbook to address the growing concerns at provincial and village level of climate change and loss of resources due to environmental degradation.”
Conservation Officer Alisi Rabukawaqa says work on putting together the handbook started in 2014 to help the work of conservationists.
The Handbook will be a national guiding document for provincial offices in all 14 provinces. It will be periodically reviewed and updated to ensure it remains current and relevant.
