Issues that were raised by Fijians during the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial public consultation will be addressed instantly.
Minister responsible, Jone Usamate says he’s expecting to receive the full report of the public consultation in due course from the team and will ensure the issues raised are attended to.
Usamate says areas of complaints, queries and comments received were mainly on workers’ compensation, occupational health and safety, child labour, seasonal work, minimum terms and conditions of employment.
It also included new national minimum wage, minimum wage rates for the 10 sectoral industries, employment contracts and distinction between casual and permanent workers.
The nationwide public consultation headed by Usamate successfully ended at the ‘Old Capital-Levuka’ earlier this week.
