Investment brings in $613m in 2018/2019 Financial Year

Direct foreign and local investments have generated $613m for the Fijian economy from August 2018 to May 2019.

This has been highlighted by the Minister for Industry and Trade, Premila Kumar who further explained that 87 projects were set up by foreign investors.

Kumar adds 47 projects were set up by local investors.

“The two areas where most of the investments were carried out are the service sector including travel agencies, hotel sectors, hair and beauty salon as well as the wholesale and retail sectors, these are the two areas.”

The Minister says it is encouraging to see local and foreign investors have confidence in the Fijian economy and is hopeful the stable policies will continue to attract more investors.

Meanwhile, Attorney General and Economy Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will announce the 2019/2020 National Budget at 7.30 tonight which will be aired live on FBC TV.
