Police have completed investigations into Opposition Party leader Ro Teimumu Kepa’s complaint that some opposition members faced death threats through social media last November.

A local man posted on Facebook that he could act as a suicide bomber and destroy people who create political unrest.

Acting Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho confirms the man’s profile page has been copied, and the message on facebook was posted from outside of Fiji.

Brigadier General Qiliho also says the man in question, happened to be in Fiji at the time – as confirmed by the Cyber-Crime Unit.

‘’There is nothing to worry about. Other important people in the country have been threatened on the social media including our Prime Minister and nothing has happened. It’s something not to worry about really. But if people continue to be worried about that feel free to report with us and we will do the necessary investigations but things that have been flown around in social media, we have looked into and it and it has turned out to be negative’’.

Brigadier General Qiliho is advising the public to remain calm and report to police if they have any such worries.
