Internet money launderer appeals his sentence

A twenty-six-year-old man, who was sentenced to nine years imprisonment in April for money laundering through internet banking, has appealed his sentence.

Manjeet Singh stole more than twenty-four thousand dollars from two accounts at the Bank South Pacific four-years-ago and is eligible to apply for parole after serving seven years imprisonment.

Singh appeared before Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza in the Suva High Court this morning.

His lawyer told the Court that he has received submissions from the state however he needs time to respond.

The case will be called for hearing on September 20th.
