May 13, 2018 7:07 pm

The recently announced insurance package for dairy farmers is not limited to dairy farmers only.

For the first time, over two hundred dairy farmers will be able to access an insurance package for the first time that provides up to $10,000 cover.

The package provides a combined cover limit of $10,000 per farmer, at a premium payment of $52 annually, or just $1 a week and covers loss of life, funeral, personal accident and fire.

Fiji Cooperative Dairy Company Limited, chief executive, Sachida Nand says cash crops farmers can also take up insurance coverage.

“We are not only restricting this to the dairy industry, we like to expand this to other livestock and crop farmers within the dairy area so if you are not a dairy farmer, you are a cash crop farmer you can also come and join in the scheme. This is part of our social corporate responsibility. We are giving back to the community wherever you operate from and there is no benefit top FCDCL. The premium of $1 per week goes straight to Fiji Care”

Nand confirms there are currently 260 registered dairy farmers and 240 suppliers.

The Dairy Farmers Insurance Package had been made possible by the engagement of FCDCL with the Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme and Fiji Care Insurance Limited.
