Inmates have been deployed to various affected areas in Viti Levu who are helping in the clean-up.

National Disaster Management Minister Inia Seruiratu says this will help in the rehabilitation efforts.

“Included in today’s deployment as well we have prisoners being deployed in to their areas they will be involved in the cleaning up of Ba town and of course will be some Assistance in the coastal areas of Tailevu, where there will three different stations and Fiji Corrections Services are organizing that for us.”

Seruiratu says there will be an increase in manpower if the need arises.
